KillZone Outfitter’s Hub Style Blind Review

By Josh Morrissey

“This past summer I decided to buy another blind. I knew I wanted a hub style blind that fit into my budget as a college student. I did a lot of research, looking on Ebay, Cabela’s, and anywhere in general.

I ran across some blinds by KillZone Outfitter’s that looked very nice and were surprisingly inexpensive. I looked into them more and looked at reviews on them and decided that I was going to try one out. I got it in the mail and couldn’t be happier! It is set up right now for deer hunting and it looks great. The material is very water resistant and durable and there is plenty of room for a hunter and a cameraman. It comes with shoot-through mesh windows and stakes to stake it down.

My favorite part about the blind is that the windows are not Velcro, but instead very similar to the Double Bull blinds where the windows just slide down and are held up by the support rods of the blind. These types of windows make it easy to open up and close without making hardly any noise!

I would highly recommend this blind to anyone who is looking at buying a blind. No matter what weather you are hunting in and no matter what game you are chasing, for $119.99 you can’t go wrong with the KillZone Outfitter’s Hub Style blind! For more information on this blind and other KillZone Outfitter merchandise, check out www.killzonehunting.com.”

Thanks, Josh, and happy hunting!

Nationally known hunter Mike Roux wrote a feature article in the May 2011 issue of River Country Outdoors for a turkey hunt using the KillZone 360 blind.

Roux was invited by Bigneck Outfitters for a spring turkey hunt that would be filmed in the Adams County, Illinois area. To get ready for the hunt, Roux said, “I spent some time scouting and placing a couple of blinds. The blinds I now use for both hunting and filming are KillZone blinds. I have never used such convenient and easy to use blinds in the field. Their 360 Blind is the one I used on this hunt. Filming was done from their Double Chair Blind.”

The first day of the turkey hunt was a cold one, which, along with wind gusts, made the day a bust. Roux observed, “I had no idea exactly how cold it was until we left the protection of our KillZone blinds. It was brutal walking back to the truck.”

The next day was a complete turnaround, according to Roux: “We were literally surrounded by turkeys. We had set our blinds in a horseshoe-shaped field circled by timbered ridges and skirting a flat creek bottom. Gobblers were sounding-off in almost every direction.” The turkeys hung just out of range, however. The following day produced the same results.

On the last day of the hunt, “Luke and I were tucked into our KillZone blind plenty early.” As the turkeys began stirring, Roux used a box call, then switched to a slate call. Two toms wandered within range, and in under a minute Roux tagged out for the year in Adams County.

What happens when a nationally known hunter takes a KillZone blind into the field? Hunter Mike Roux reports on his success with the 360 KillZone Blind and the 2 Shooter Chair Hunting Blind:

“The 360 KillZone blind performed great in the field. It is convenient and easy to carry and goes up quickly. The 360 degree view really helps on turkey hunts in the timber. The configuration of the net screens and windows is very good and would be great for the archery hunter as well. I also used the KillZone Double Chair blind to film a successful hunt earlier in the week. This blind is a MUST for the hunting video guys. The combination of these two products makes me more productive than any others have in the past. My grade for these blinds is an A+.”

A hunter from Illinois with the nickname Young posted his review of the KillZone 360 Hunting Blind in the USA Hunting Pros forum. See below for his two cents on one of our most popular ground blinds.

“Just got mine [KillZone 360 Hub Style Ground Blind] today and I can’t wait to try this thing out in the woods. I popped the blind up tonight inside and I couldn’t believe how easy it was.

- The door has two separate zippers and opens and closes with ease.

- The window set-up is nice. The front window has the mesh material and zippers to open and close. The second layer slides up and down with minimal noise and simply hooks in three separate sections of the blind on each side. You can easily have a 360 degree viewing angle with minimal noise and strain. There are also magnets to help secure the second layer in place.

- It has a roof window, a triangular shape that is easy to open and close, not sure what I will use it for yet. Maybe to duck hunt a field I have permission for. Only thought about this is it might be leak, but they have a flap of material that covers the zipper so with the downward angle it might just run over the zipper…

- The size of this thing is awesome. From corner to corner 72”x72” and there is plenty of room for movement, seats, heaters, and two people can fit comfortably for those who like to film or hunt with another person. Center height is 66”, also I think the total weight is 14lbs and you can’t beat the carrying pack that comes with it.

So far this thing looks awesome and I can’t wait to put it to the test come season to see how it holds up to the weather and outdoor climates. For the price (119$ TYD) I don’t think you can beat it.”

Camouflage mesh on windows

In response to questions about the 360 blind from other hunters, Young responded:

“As far as noise this is pretty quiet…I have not got the chance to test it in the outdoors yet, but when I popped it up it has mesh windows with zippers on the mesh and the other material not quite sure what it is, but it’s quiet going up and down.

The windows are held up by hooks and connect at the door with magnets. There are also zippers on the mesh section of the window.”

A couple of months later, after Young had gotten a chance to use the blind, he posted an update:

“Just an update on the blind. I used it all during turkey season and couldn’t of been more happy with my purchase. It withstood some nasty weather and high winds and did not once pull out from the ground or get any damage. The blind has plenty of room for two people and has quiet zippers and attachments to open and close the windows.

I rate this as the best blind I have purchased so far for its price.”

One of Young’s hunting buddies added to the discussion with his opinion of the blind:

“The day I hunted with you I felt like there was a ton of room even with the two of us in there… definitely a great blind at a great price! I’m gonna have to buy a couple for grandma’s property this year!”

Along with our Autumn Wooded Oak pattern, you now have more options for blending in to any terrain. The Zero-Detect camo pattern blends easily into wooded areas, marshes, fields, and other settings. The combination of colors work great for early or late season hunting.

The KillZone 360 Hunting Blind is a premium blind at an affordable price. Can it hold its own next to the big name blinds? Just ask our customers! One customer, Daniel, told us, “I have used Primos hunting blinds and Ameristep binds the last 2 seasons. They are good blinds but nowhere near the class of this blind! And at a fraction of the cost. It is without a doubt the best blind I have used.” And he’s not the only customer who feels that way.

The 360 blind is a winner all around with 360-degree vision, shoot-through mesh, carbon scent-dampening protection, a black-out interior, a roof hatch for duck hunting and ventilation, and a backpack case to boot. What more could you ask for?

A bowhunter from North Carolina posted a review of the KillZone 360 ground blind on the forum at ArcheryTalk.com, along with pictures and videos.

Here are a few excerpts from what this hunter had to say about the 360 hunting blind:

“We received it four days after we ordered it (great for free shipping) and it literally took 50 seconds from the time I cut the tape on the box until it was fully set up in our living room. This sucker is big! I am 6’3″ and I could almost stand up inside. The sides and top pop out with web strap handles (which could also be used as anchors to trees, etc. for heavy winds). It has shoot through mesh and a camo backing on the mesh which is held up by a silent bungee and plastic “s” hook system and each side panel of the mesh backing is held together with silent magnets. The shoot through mesh is zipped on and the zipper makes a slight noise when moved quickly but is silent when opened or closed slowly.

It also has removable top vents on two of the four sides but does not have a bottom.”

The blind has a 5ft 6in center height (compared to 6ft 3in hunter).

When asked by another forum member how well made the blind was, the North Carolina archer said,

“I haven’t taken it out in the field yet but it seems sturdy and seems like someone put a good amount of thought into the fit and finish. Materials aren’t flimsy like an old surplus poncho or anything.

I was VERY happy for the money.”

In another update, the reviewer mentioned the window height and quality of materials and tested the waterproof coating:

“Shot out of it today (sitting in a collapsible bag chair- I am 6’3″) windows are perfect height top of window is above eye level and bottom of window is above your lap when sitting down. I could shoot basically any angle I wanted to out of the blind. There really isn’t any sheen to the fabric. It is much thicker than poncho or tarp material. Somewhere between the thickness of that and canvas. Texture of the material is kind of the same as canvas.

View from inside the 360 hunting blind

Also I filled a 5 gallon bucket 3/4s full and kind of threw it over the top. No water leakage.

It really seems like it will hold up for the long haul and opening and closing windows etc are dead silent. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

Also, as you can tell, I am a big boy and we fit two guys my size in there no problem. Three with bow might be a little much but could definitely be done. Since the sides kind of slope out a little in the middle where the support braces meet, it makes it a little more roomy.”

Another forum member commented on the sheen of the material in the pictures, and the reviewer replied with the following:

“It really isn’t shiny. There is a little sheen to it because of the material it is made out of, but it appears to be woven rather than a sheet of material so the sheen isn’t bad. I haven’t seen any other blind from any of the big manufacturers that was less shiny than this one.”

Here’s a ground blind review on the 360 Hub Style from one of our customers, posted on the forum at USAHuntingPros.com:

Post Subject: KillZone 360 Hub Style Ground Blind

“Just got mine today and I can’t wait to try this thing out in the woods. I popped the blind up tonight inside and I couldn’t believe how easy it was.…

The size of this thing is awesome. From corner to corner 72”x72” and there is plenty of room for movement, seats, heaters, and two people can fit comfortably for those who like to film or hunt with another person.…

So far this thing looks awesome and I can’t wait to put it to the test come season to see how it holds up to the weather and outdoor climates. For the price, I don’t think you can beat it.”

In a follow-up post a few months later…

“Just an update on the blind. I used it all during turkey season and couldn’t of been more happy with my purchase. It withstood some nasty weather and high winds and did not once pull out from the ground or get any damage. The blind has plenty of room for two people and has quiet zippers and attachments to open and close the windows.

I rate this as the best blind I have purchased so far for its price.”
